BENDS AND FITTINGS

Tri Underground pride ourselves on being one of the largest bend manufacturers in Australia. Since small beginnings in 2002, we have grown to have manufacturing plants in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. Each location manufactures a large range of Medium Duty (MD), Light Duty (LD), Heavy Duty (HD) Electrical, Communications (MD & HD), NBN and Telstra bends and fittings to suit almost any application.

All our bends and fittings across all locations are manufactured from solid plain wall conduit that meets the Australian Standard AS/NZS 2053.2: 2001 and is BEP certified. This solid wall conduit is also approved to meet the QLD TMR Standard (MRTS91). This makes our bends durable and tested to the highest quality standards to ensure smooth cable pulling on site.

As well as our standard ranges with large stock holdings at each branch, we are also experienced in making custom bends and fittings to suit project requirement. Please contact ours sales team to see how we can assist with this.

BENDS

Bends are required to be installed where you need to change the direction of rigid PVC conduit in a trench. Tri Underground manufacture these across all 3 of our branches and each branch has different capabilities to suit the market demand in each state.

Standard bends come with a female-female socket (FFS) meaning each end of the bend is socketed so spigot conduit can be connected. We can also make bends with a male-female (MFS spigot/socket) which can be used both for connecting multi-part bends and/or socket end of the conduit. Our bends codes have a simple layout to distinguish the options we have available. Typically, our codes read: Conduit Type, Conduit Size, Degree, Radius, Sockets. Examples below.

BENDS table
Below are some of the conduit size options that standard bends can be manufactured rom. All of our branches have capabilities for these in a variety of degree and radius.

Our standard degrees kept on the shelf are 11.25,15,22.5,30,45,60 and 90 degrees however custom degrees can be manufactured upon request where possible. We have bend capabilities from 100mm up to 10,000mm radius however the degree & radius combination is determined by the conduit size.

For larger degree and radius bends, we can manufacture these as multi-part bends that can be assembled on site to achieve project requirement. Multi-part bends can provide a safer option for onsite handling due to the length and weight of the assembled item.

fittings

slip couplers

As a leading manufacturing in Australia for almost 20 years, we have developed extensive manufacturing capabilities to suit an array of onsite requirements which we can customise solutions for. Standard items include PVC-PVC, PVC-PE, PE-PE fittings both as joiners & reducers/adaptors. We also have experience customising fittings to suit out of the ordinary challenges presented from existing pipe networks i.e; creating an adaptor to suit existing asbestos pipe to connect to new PVC installation.

joiners & reducers PVC-PVC

PVC-PVC Joiners (otherwise known as adaptors) are used to join two spigot ends of PVC conduit together. They can be used to join two of the same size conduits or two different size conduits (these are called reducers). They are available in, LD & HD Electrical, MD & HD Communications, NBN & Telstra conduit types. All our joiners are made from solid wall PVC conduit and is a straight piece of conduit with both ends socketed. In some instances when joining different size conduits, several joiners may be required to achieve the desired reduction.

joiners & reducers PVC – PE & PE-PE

PVC-PE Joiners (often called bore to stick adaptors) are used to join one spigot end of PVC conduit to a spigot end of PE Conduit. PE-PE Joiners are used to join two spigot ends of PE conduit together. These joiners are available in LD & HD Electrical, MD & HD Communications, NBN & Telstra conduit types. All our joiners are made from solid wall PVC and is a straight piece of conduit with both ends socketed to suit the respective conduits/pipe. In some instances when using joiners to significantly reduce the conduit size, several joiners may be required to achieve the desired reduction.

pit bushes

Pit Bushes are used for placing inside a plastic PE Pit wall to connect conduit from the outside. Pit bushes have a smooth rolled edge which sits on the inside of the pit, creating a smooth edge for the cable to be pulled through. Standard sizes to suit most conduit types are available across all states. Enquire with your local team to find out more.

bellmouths

Bellmouths are used for placing inside a concrete pit wall to connect conduit from the outside. Bellmouths have a smooth rolled edge which sits on the inside of the pit, creating a smooth edge for the cable to be pulled through. The lengths are customisable on these to suit different concrete wall thicknesses.

socket bellmouths

Socket bellmouths are designed to join to the spigot end of conduit. Standard sizes are available in HD Electrical, MD & HD Communications & Telstra. Note: HD bellmouths are manufacturing to suit LD & HD Electrical conduits.

spigot bellmouths

Spigot bellmouths are designed to join to the socket end of conduit. Standard sizes are available in HD Electrical, MD & HD Communications & Telstra. Note: HD bellmouths are manufacturing to suit LD & HD Electrical conduits.
